ROUND HILL HOSTS A SAFARI EVENING IN JAMAICA TO RAISE MONEY FOR HANOVER CHARITIES
MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA (02/25/08) – The Sugar Cane Carnival at Round Hill Hotel & Villas in Montego Bay, Jamaica, was the place to be over President’s Weekend as socialites, diplomats and business leaders from the US, Europe, and Jamaica, gathered for a fun-filled weekend in this sunny clime and chic resort that raised nearly $180,000. for the Hanover Charities, the largest charitable organization in Western Jamaica.
New Yorkers Vanessa Noel; Peter Lyden; Daisy Soros; and Julia Utsch; Spanish Ambassador to Jamaica Jesus Silva; U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica Brenda LaGrange Johnson; Designer Ralph Lauren and wife Ricky; jewelry designer Helga Wagner and artist Helmut Koller of Palm Beach; were a few of the names bringing glam to the “Starlight on the Serengetti, a Safari Soiree” featuring dinner, dancing, auction and a raffle at Round Hill on Saturday night followed by a professional polo match on Sunday afternoon.
The raffle raised US$24,500 while the Silent auction brought in US$ 46,000, and included such luxuries as a stay for two persons at Peter Island Resort in the BVI; a $5,000 gift certificate at Ralph Lauren on Madison Avenue; a Bucherer Watch; a stay at the Vanessa Noel Hotel Green in Nantucket; a Jonathon Routh painting; a Waterford and Wedgewood setting for four; and two nights at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
On Sunday, the company assembled for the Sugar Cane Carnival Polo Match at the Chukka Blue Polo Club. The first match featured up-and-coming young Jamaican players and the main event featured Round Hill Hotel and Villas team against Chukka Caribbean Adventures team. The Round Hill team took home the trophy.
Hanover Charities serves the needy of Jamaica’s Hanover Parish with soup kitchens, drug education, computer labs, essentials for the handicapped, and more, including scholarships. Its single fund-raiser is the annual Sugar Cane Carnival at Round Hill which last year raised over 159,000.00

Tea and bar service in an exclusive VIP tent while watching the matches.
It was so much fun and raised over US$ 18,000.00. for Hanover
Charities that this event will be come an annual celebration the Sunday
following the Sugar Cane Carnival - the date will be Sunday, February 15,
