Good Morning!

We are pleased to announce that in its fifty-first year, Hanover Charities raised over US$150,000 at this year's Sugar Cane Ball fundraiser - the second highest total in its history. In other words, more than J$10 million dollars will be distributed to your organizations today.

This year's efforts required renewed creativity on the part of the fundraising committee, and our community supporters. Among the innovations was the introduction of the Hanover Charities Polo Invitational. We partnered with Chukka Caribbean to host this exciting new event at the Blue Hole Polo Field, and its resounding success has ensured it will be an annual event significantly contributing towards our fundraising activities. I would like to express our gratitude to the Melville and Byles families, Dominique Peterkin and her team of Chukka Caribbean for their commitment in this endeavour.

I must also thank Jennifer Flannigan of Tryall, as her assistance in the organization of this year's fundraising activities was invaluable. We are happy to have her with us today, as a board member of Hanover Charities (especially flown in from the United States for this occasion!)

Hanover Charities applauds the efforts of the recipients of grants today. Your continuing commitment to the development of your communities is most admirable and we thank you for the opportunity to participate in the continued development of Hanover.

We are pleased to announce that, as promised last year, our website www.HanoverCharities.com is now operational. The site provides a history of our organization, its ongoing activities, and identifies the beneficiaries of grants in each year. I encourage everyone to visit the site as it provides insight into our organization and its activities.

In closing, I must thank my fellow board members for their important counsel to me and their unwavering commitment to the goals and objectives of Hanover Charities. Hanover Charities remains committed to community development through partnership with the organizations such as those represented here today.

Thank you.
